X-treme Adventures Mentoring & Outreach

X-treme AdventuresPartnering with local churches, X-treme Adventures offers outdoor sports that foster mentoring relationships between caring adults and at-risk youth. These one-to-one relationships and small groups change children’s lives, often improving their self-esteem, school performance, social skills, and behavior.

We’d love for you to get involved in a child’s life through the many different activities X-treme Adventures offers:

Cycling

Our Cycling program pairs at-risk youth with experienced adult mentors who ride alongside them, encouraging them one pedal at a time. Cycling training and a devotion is offered several times a week in the spring. Many of the youth and mentors that participate in our cycling program participate in our annual 500 mile eight-day bike trip from Ohio to Niagara Falls. Participating youth ride 70-80 miles a day. At the end of the trip, medals are awarded to each rider. The aches are soon forgotten as each rider shares in the completion of the challenge.

Horseback Riding

X-treme Adventures Horseback RidingMost urban kids have never touched, much less ridden a horse. Our hoseback riding program makes this new experience possible for kids. Paired with a caring adult mentor, at-risk kids learn how to care for and ride horses. They develop a deep sense of responsibility and confidence while creating unique memories.

HorsePower is available to church small groups as well as individual children ages 7-15 and their mentors. Riding sessions are held every other Saturday, April through August. Bible devotions and professional horseback riding instruction is offered at each session. Space is limited so please RSVP in advance. To learn more or to RSVP, please contact Carole Bower at (513) 265-4477 or cbower@citygospelmission.org.
