Birthday Party for the Homeless
A Celebration to Remember

To the homeless, a birthday is rarely a cause for celebration.  Thankfully, with the help of caring Mission friends, we treat our dinner guests to birthday cake, gifts, and birthday cards at our Annual Birthday Party for the Homeless. 

In response to our requests on 93.3 WAKW radio and citygospelmission.com, more than 500 Birthday Cards poured in.  These cards, signed with encouraging and heartfelt birthday wishes, touched many of our guests deeply by showing them that someone cares.  Often, that knowledge alone can lead a person to seek life-changing help at the Mission.

One card had such a powerful impact on the man who received it, he wrote a thank-you note that very evening while staying in our shelter.  It reads in part, "I would like to say thank you.  Words will never be able to describe how your card touched me…I opened the card and tears came to my eyes."

To all friends of the homeless who helped make this day a special celebration, thank you for giving our guests a memory that will live in their hearts forever.
